Lithographic Workshop Museum
It was set up in the former Litografía Alemana of Cádiz, founded in 1861, which operated as a print shop until the end of the 20th century. It is in the vaults of the Puertas de Tierra and is one of the few museums of its kind in Spain. Cádiz was the third Spanish city with a lithographic workshop, after Madrid and Barcelona. It holds more than a thousand lithographic stones from Bavarian quarries, many of high quality, some almost works of art for their old engravings and drawings, all well preserved and on display. Among the most striking pieces are a stone weighing more than 300 kilos and a hand press built in Paris in 1850, one of the few that survive. The museum keeps working presses used by specialist printmakers. Admission is free and access is adapted.
