Necrópolis de Los Algarbes
A funerary complex from the Chalcolithic and Bronze Age, dating from the end of the third millennium BCE, located in the Parque Natural del Estrecho, next to the Valdevaqueros cove. It has around fifty funerary structures and artificial caves for collective burials; most are circular in plan with a vaulted roof, and some combine features of a cave and a dolmen. Carlos Posac Mon excavated part of the site between 1967 and 1972; the rest remains unexcavated. The documented grave goods include ceramic vessels, cut and polished stone tools, and ornaments of shell, ivory and gold. There are also individual tombs cut into the rock, bathtub-type, of uncertain date. A large megalithic construction with a corridor carved into the sandstone stands out. The Junta de Andalucía prepared it for visits between 2010 and 2012. Access starts from the N-340 road, around kilometre 74.
