Singapore Zoo
Singapore Zoo opened in 1973 and covers about 26 hectares beside the Upper Seletar Reservoir, in the Mandai reserve in the north of the island, in a tropical rainforest setting. It is a zoo of open enclosures and moats rather than cages, and is home to more than 4,200 animals. Among its highlights are the free-ranging orangutans, the giraffes that visitors can feed, and the elephants. There are keeper presentations, such as the Splash Safari show, as well as talks and feeding sessions. KidzWorld is the children's area, with play areas and a water area called Splish Splash. To get around the park you can use the guided tram, and there are also boat rides.
