The Monument to Ferdinand III the Saint is a sculptural group unveiled in 1924 and located in Seville's Plaza Nueva. Made of bronze on a limestone pedestal, it depicts King Ferdinand III on horseback. Surrounding the equestrian statue are the figures of four historical figures who accompanied him in the conquest of Seville: Alfonso X, the knight Garci Pérez de Vargas, Admiral Ramón Bonifaz and Bishop Don Remondo. The monument commemorates the king, canonised in 1671, who conquered the city in 1248 and is the patron saint of Seville.
