Zacarías González House Museum
The house of the Salamanca painter Zacarías González is on Calle Alarcón, in the urban centre of Salamanca, and works as a museum with the work his sister donated for this purpose. It brings together more than 600 paintings, nearly 2,000 drawings and six illustrated books, making it possible to follow the career of an artist closely tied to the city and its landscapes. The space is run by the Fundación Caja Duero. It is a small museum with a domestic feel, where the works are seen in the same rooms in which the artist lived and worked. It has no free opening hours: it is visited by appointment, and admission is free of charge. Zacarías González (1923-2003) mainly painted landscapes, still lifes and scenes of Salamanca and its province, with a sober and highly recognisable palette.
