Rue du Mont-Cenis
CultureVisit: ~30 min
Steep street in Montmartre that until 1863 was called rue Saint-Denis, because it ran down towards the Saint-Denis shrine. It climbs in a flight of steps up to rue Saint-Vincent and was a regular subject for painters and photographers; Maurice Utrillo painted it often and one of his canvases (1914) is in the Musée de l'Orangerie. It is a quieter alternative to the steps of rue Foyatier.
