CultureVisit: ~60 min
East End street between Bethnal Green and Spitalfields. Its name comes from brickmaking, from the 15th century. Huguenots, Irish, Jews and Bengalis from Sylhet have lived there; it has been promoted as 'Banglatown' since 1997. It is famous for its curries, its Sunday market and its street art. The Brick Lane Mosque was a Huguenot church and a synagogue before becoming a mosque in 1976.
