Bow Street Museum of Crime and Justice
The Bow Street Museum of Crime and Justice occupies the former cells and offices of the historic Bow Street police station in Covent Garden, where visitors walk through authentic spaces that witnessed the evolution of policing from the 18th century until 1992. Exhibits include an original courtroom dock, equipment used by the Bow Street Runners and personal effects of former officers, such as patrol books and truncheons. Visitors can enter a large cell known as 'the tank', used to hold people arrested for drunken behaviour, and learn about famous prisoners such as Oscar Wilde, Dr Crippen and the Kray twins, depicted in courtroom sketches.
