Madison Square Park is a 2.5-hectare public park in Manhattan, bounded by Fifth Avenue, Madison Avenue, 23rd Street and 26th Street. The park retains the landscape design of William Grant and Ignatz Pilat, an assistant to Frederick Law Olmsted. Notable features include the seated monument to William H. Seward (1876), the Farragut Memorial (1881) with sculpture by Augustus Saint-Gaudens and base by Stanford White, the Eternal Light Flagstaff (1923), commemorating First World War soldiers, and the granite Southern Fountain, whose current version dates from 1990. The park also has the Jemmy's Dog Run, the Reflecting Pool, the Police Officer Moira Ann Smith Playground and a Shake Shack. The Conservancy programmes contemporary art exhibitions, such as the Roberto Lugo show running until December 2026, and community events such as City of Forest Day and Taste of Asia. Admission is free, and the park is fully accessible to people with disabilities.
