CultureVisit: ~30 min
A hill where the Assembly (Ekklesia) of democratic Athens met from the late 6th century BC. It preserves a large semicircular esplanade and the bema, the stone platform from which the orators spoke. It is associated with Pericles and Demosthenes. It lies west of the Acropolis, next to Philopappos Hill, with views of the Acropolis.
