Cernuschi Museum
The Cernuschi Museum, at 7 Avenue Vélasquez near Parc Monceau, occupies the residence that once belonged to the financier Henri Cernuschi. Its galleries bring together Far Eastern art, with collections from China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam, and Room 5 displays the Meguro Buddha, a monumental 18th-century Japanese bronze. The permanent collection includes archaic bronzes, objects from the Han, Northern Wei, Sui, Tang, Song and Liao dynasties, as well as Chinese painting from the Ming and Qing dynasties and the first half of the 20th century. The museum also holds literary gatherings, readings and demonstrations of Far Eastern calligraphy and painting.
