The Kasugayama Primeval Forest is an area of virgin forest of 298.6 hectares in Nara, protected as a Special Natural Monument and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara”. It lies within Nara Park, east of the grounds of Kasuga Taisha Shrine, and forms a sacred forest (chinju no mori).
