Arch of Constantine
CultureVisit: ~15 min
Triumphal arch about 25 metres tall, the largest of the three that survive in Rome, between the Colosseum and the Palatine. The Senate erected it in AD 315 to celebrate Constantine's victory over Maxentius at the Milvian Bridge (312). It reuses reliefs from the times of Trajan, Hadrian and Marcus Aurelius, and the long frieze below them dates from the 4th century.
