Church of San Ildefonso
This is a neoclassical parish church on the square of the same name, in the Alfalfa area. It was built between 1794 and 1841 on the site of an earlier ruined church, to a design attributed to Julián Barnecilla and executed by José Echamorro. The main façade is flanked by two slender towers that change from a square to an octagonal and then a circular plan; the lower storey has Ionic columns and the upper one Corinthian columns, framing a niche with the figure of San Ildefonso. On Calle Rodríguez Marín there is a plainer side doorway, with Tuscan columns and a triangular pediment. The interior has three naves, a transept and a presbytery, with a dome on pendentives. It preserves The Two Trinities by Juan Martínez Montañés (1609) in the baptismal chapel, a Pietà by Cristóbal Ramos and the altarpiece of the Virgen del Coral. On the high altar there are figures of San Ildefonso, Saint Peter and Saint Paul by Felipe de Ribas, from 1636-1637.
