Martyrs' Square, located in South Mumbai, is a site of great historical and cultural significance. Originally known as Flora Fountain Square, it was renamed in 1960 in honour of the martyrs of the Samyukta Maharashtra Samiti, who lost their lives in a peaceful demonstration. The square features the iconic Flora Fountain, a heritage structure representing the Roman goddess Flora, and a statue of a martyr holding a flame, commemorating those who died in the movement to create the state of Maharashtra.
