Hyehwamun
Northeast gate of the Seoul city wall, known as Dongbukmun, one of the four auxiliary gates of the circuit. It was built in 1396 under the name Honghwamun and in 1511 was renamed Hyehwamun. In 1928 the gate pavilion was demolished and in 1938 the partial arch called Hongye was removed. It was rebuilt in 1994 on its current site, somewhat north of the original spot. It is next to Hyehwa station, exit 1, about a five-minute walk to the Naksan entrance. From the gate the section towards Heunginjimun starts, 3.2 kilometres and about an hour, with a gentle slope. Along the way you see stones of different shapes that reveal the periods of construction, Naksan park with views of the city and the Ihwa neighbourhood, with murals and sculptures.
