Can Framis Museum
Can Framis is the museum of the Fundació Vila Casas, opened in Barcelona in April 2009 in the Poblenou neighbourhood, within the 22@ district. It occupies a former textile factory dating from the late 18th century, restored by the studio BAAS Arquitectes, so that the industrial heritage sits alongside new architecture. Inside, around 300 works of contemporary painting by artists born in or living in Catalonia are on show, from the 1960s to the present day. The permanent collection is rotated regularly and Espacio A0 hosts the temporary exhibitions. You can get there by metro on the L1 (Glòries) or the L4 (Llacuna), and it is a few minutes from the Diagonal. It is a short, uncrowded visit, well suited to seeing how a factory building was reused as an art gallery.
