It is surrounded by the Casa Rosada, seat of the executive, the Cabildo, the Metropolitan Cathedral and the Banco de la Nación. At the centre stands the Pirámide de Mayo, from 1811, and on Thursdays the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo walk around it.
