Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall
The Hibiya Open-Air Concert Hall is a historic open-air auditorium in Hibiya Park, in Chiyoda, Tokyo. Opened in 1923, it was the venue for Japan's first large-scale rock concert in 1969 and has since hosted numerous concerts and live album recordings. Popularly known as 'Yaon', the venue has a capacity of around 3,000 and has witnessed landmark events such as the Naon no Yaon festival and the Hibiya Music Festival. It is currently closed for renovation from 1 October 2025, so it cannot be visited, but its musical legacy and its location in Japan's first Western-style park make it a site of cultural and historical interest.
