Agoudas Hakehilos Synagogue
The Agoudas Hakehilos Synagogue, on Rue Pavée in the Marais district, is notable for its Art Nouveau design by Hector Guimard, with a white stone façade, elongated windows and continuous columns that accentuate its verticality. Inside, visitors find a nave with two levels of galleries on either side, original furnishings designed by Guimard, and stylised plant decoration in plaster and cast iron, where the triangle and the Star of David are recurring motifs. Natural light enters mainly through a large window on the rear wall, and the original skylights, covered over during a roof renovation, can still be seen from inside.
