Cartagena Military History Museum (Artillery Museum)
The museum occupies the former Royal Artillery Park and Arsenal, an 18th-century military building ordered by Charles III. It was badly damaged in the Cantonal War of 1874 and was not rebuilt until the early 20th century. Today it shares its premises with the Cartagena Municipal Archive. Inside, the history of artillery and its relationship with the city since 1508 is told through plans, models and documents. There are field, coastal, anti-tank, anti-aircraft and mountain guns, as well as ammunition, rangefinders, uniforms and military memorabilia. One of its most striking collections is the military miniatures, which has twice set a Guinness record for the number of pieces displayed. Access is from Plaza de la Puerta de la Serreta, in the upper part of the old town, next to the Serreta district.
