Barcaza Fountain
CultureVisit: ~15 min
Fountain in the shape of a half-sunken boat, at the foot of the Spanish Steps. It was commissioned by Urban VIII from Pietro Bernini, who finished it around 1627-1629 with the help of his son Gian Lorenzo. According to legend, it was inspired by a boat left by the Tiber flood of 1598; it sits below street level because the Acqua Vergine aqueduct arrives with low pressure.
