Tokyo Big Sight
Tokyo Big Sight is a convention and exhibition centre in the Ariake Minami district, on the Tokyo Bay waterfront. Its most recognisable architectural feature is the Conference Tower, made up of four inverted glass-and-titanium pyramids mounted on large supports. The site is organised into three main areas — the East Exhibition Hall, the West Exhibition Hall and the Conference Tower — each with its own restaurants and support facilities. In the East Exhibition Hall, a central two-level gallery 600 metres long runs past three exhibition halls on each side, with moving walkways, escalators and food stalls. Around the Tower are public artworks by international artists such as Claes Oldenburg, Coosje Van Bruggen, Michael Craig-Martin and Lee U-Fan, including a giant sculpture of a saw, a large stylised pond and three marble beds.
