Hampstead Heath
Hampstead Heath is a large, semi-wild 320-hectare park in London, characterised by hilly terrain, ponds, old and newer groves, playgrounds and a running track, stretching between Hampstead and Highgate. In the south-east lies Parliament Hill, from which there are protected views of the city, and along the eastern edge there is a chain of ponds, including three public open-air swimming pools that were formerly reservoirs of the River Fleet. The park borders the grounds of Kenwood House, and concerts are held beside the lake in summer. Hampstead Heath is recognised as a Site of Importance for Nature Conservation, and part of Kenwood is a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
