Trajan's Market
Trajan's Market is an extensive complex of brick ruins arranged on several levels, built in the early 2nd century next to Trajan's Forum to hold back the excavated slope of the Quirinal. Visitors can walk through some of these levels, where marble floors and the remains of a library survive, and stroll along the Via Biberatica, a paved street separating the lower part, with the Great Hemicycle, from the upper part, dominated by the Central Block. Next to the Great Hall, covered by a concrete vault, are the Via della Torre and a garden with Roman structures above which rises the medieval Torre delle Milizie. Since 2007 the complex has housed the Museum of the Imperial Forums, which gathers original decorations found in the area and reconstructions of ancient buildings.
