A great tree-lined avenue in Lisbon that links Praça dos Restauradores with Praça Marquês de Pombal, over a little more than a kilometre. It was opened in the 19th century, with a central promenade with ponds, kiosks and statues, and on both sides buildings from the 19th and 20th centuries, now home to luxury shops and hotels.
