El Sardinero Sports Grounds
Municipal football stadium beside the El Sardinero beaches in Santander, where Real Racing Club, the city's emblematic club, plays its home games. The ground, opened in 1988 on land next to the old pitch, has 22,308 seats and is the largest in Cantabria. The club's offices and official shop are also on site. It has hosted Spain national team matches, such as the 2006 World Cup qualifier against Belgium and a Euro 2008 warm-up game against the United States, as well as rugby matches in 2013. The stadium stands next to the Palacio de Deportes, the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos and the Parque de la Vaguada de las Llamas, with direct access from the centre via the Puertochico Tunnel and from outside the city via Avenida de La Constitución.
