The alcazaba stands within the historic centre of Albarracín and preserves structures from different overlapping periods. In the upper part you can make out the main taifa residence, with a central courtyard beneath which lie two twin cisterns, and a hammam with a hot-air chamber, a furnace room and a latrine. On the southeast slope you can see a palatial complex of three dwellings with a courtyard and the military barracks next to the tower. The walled enclosure has been restored and the site is explored on guided visits organised from the Albarracín Museum.
