Church of San Julián y Santa Basilisa
Church of Romanesque origin built in 1107 and now part of Salamanca's historic centre, declared a Bien de Interés Cultural. From the original building it keeps the north portal, with a round arch, archivolts decorated with zigzags, leaves and studs, and figured corbels, as well as the Romanesque base of the tower. Inside is a 17th-century high altarpiece, the first in Salamanca with Solomonic columns, presided over by the Virgen de los Remedios, an alabaster image from the late 15th century, and flanked by carvings of St Joseph and St Joachim. Behind the altarpiece opens a Baroque camarín from 1681 with an elliptical dome and abundant painted and sculpted decoration. In the attic hangs an Immaculate Conception signed by José Antolínez in 1622, and next to the high altar is the tomb of Francisco de Ramos de Manzano.
