Toledo Cathedral
The cathedral occupies a vast Gothic building with five naves, a transept and a double ambulatory, built from 1226 on the site of the old main mosque. Inside there is a succession of chapels from different periods: the Mozarabic Chapel, where the Hispano-Mozarabic rite is preserved, the Chapel of San Blas with frescoes of the Sienese school, and others such as those of the Reyes Nuevos, Santiago or San Ildefonso. The east end preserves triforia of Mudéjar influence and the double ambulatory has original vaulting. Outside, the Puerta del Perdón, the Puerta de los Escribanos and the Puerta del Infierno stand out, as does the bell tower.
