Museum of Prehistory and Archaeology of Cantabria
The museum occupies a 2,000 m² exhibition hall inside the Mercado del Este, a 19th-century building listed as a Bien de Interés Cultural, in the centre of Santander next to Paseo de Pereda. Its displays focus on the prehistory of Cantabria: Upper Palaeolithic portable art, material from El Castillo cave more than 100,000 years old, Mousterian tools and pieces from later periods, as well as giant discoid Cantabrian stelae such as the one from Zurita. The space is accessible, with a lift and facilities adapted for people with reduced mobility.
