On the Calderón quay, beside the seafront promenade and close to the Pereda Gardens, stands this building by Javier González de Riancho, designed in 1920 and completed in 1932, with a portico facing the sea and corner turrets. It was the royal embarkation point during Alfonso XIII's summer holidays and, since being reopened in 1985, has served as an exhibition and conference hall of the Santander Port Authority. Its programme combines its own and touring shows of Cantabrian, national and international contemporary art with exhibitions on the maritime and port world, and admission is free.
