San Andrés Gate
CultureVisit: ~15 minFree
Monumental gate built into Segovia's medieval wall, on the south side of the enclosure. The visitor finds two towers, one square and one polygonal, a stilted arch and a gallery of irregular windows, together with cross-shaped arrow slits, ball-decorated cornices, pyramidal battlements and heraldic shields. Its site overlooks the Clamores valley, which helps explain its defensive role and its relationship with the urban landscape. It is listed as a Site of Cultural Interest and is also known as the Puerta de la Judería and the Puerta del Socorro.
