Walls of Segovia

CultureVisit: ~60 minFree

The wall encircles Segovia's historic centre along a route of about 3,400 metres, nine metres high on average and 2.5 metres thick, largely built between the 11th and 12th centuries and remodelled in later periods. The route lets you see stretches built on the rock, circular turrets and bastions, as well as several historic gates: the Puerta de Santiago, rectangular in plan with a horseshoe arch; the Puerta de San Cebrián, with a wayside cross at its entrance; and the Puerta de San Andrés, flanked by a square tower and a polygonal one. To the north, the wall overlooks the Eresma river.
