Royal Alcázar of Segovia
The Royal Alcázar of Segovia is a castle-palace on a hill beside the Eresma valley, at the edge of the old town. The visit takes in interior rooms such as the chapel and several noble halls — among them the Throne Room, the Galley Room, the Pine Cone Room and the Kings' Room — decorated with Mudéjar ceilings and plasterwork. Outside you can see the Herrerian courtyard, the moat, the drawbridge and the keep; the Tower of John II, in Gothic civil architecture, is climbed by a spiral staircase to a terrace with views. On the façade, the sgraffito incorporates the blacksmith's slag known as 'moco de pavo'. The building also houses a weapons museum and the military archive.
