Church of the Vera Cruz
Romanesque church from the early 13th century, with a twelve-sided nave surrounding a small two-storey central shrine, reached by a double staircase. Inside are a Castilian Gothic altarpiece of 1516 with scenes from the life of Christ, a Romanesque image of the Virgin of Peace in one of the apses and a 13th-century crucifix. Along the nave hang the flags of the various languages of the Order of Malta, which still holds its ceremonies here, including the Good Friday procession. Outside, the doorways with capitals carved with birds, warriors and sirens, and a square tower stand out.
