Church of San Esteban
Twelfth-century Romanesque church in Plaza de San Esteban, in Segovia's old town. Its most recognisable feature is the slender tower, which before losing the Baroque spire that crowned it reached 56 metres and was the tallest Romanesque bell tower in the Iberian Peninsula; today, covered by a recent roof, it reaches about 50 metres and ends in a metal rooster weathervane. On the south façade opens a porch of ten arches with capitals decorated with medieval carvings, and the arcaded gallery runs along the west and south sides, built of local pink limestone with granite shafts, with original capitals worn by rain and pollution. The interior, rebuilt in the 18th century after a fire, is Baroque.
